September 2009
At the start of the meeting we all exchanged news from our activities during the summer. This proved so engrossing that we didn't start the quiz that Lis had brought along. It will reappear at a future meeting!
We were delighted to welcome a speaker from Giraffe Trading, who told us more about their work and aims. Giraffe Trading is a local community interest company who provide work opportunities for people with learning difficulties and those recovering from mental illness. We had already provided weekend support during the summer to help them man stalls at Crieff Gala Day in July, and to maintain adequate staff during August at the pavilion in Crieff's MacRosty Park where they serve drinks and snacks. We also gifted them a tea urn in the summer, which proved invaluable when they opened their new shop in Perth's South Street.
Several of us attended the District Assembly in August at the Dewars Centre in Perth where we learned about this year's themes for Inner Wheel.
Our new programme is now complete and we look forward to hearing some interesting speakers. We have received several invitations which are listed below. More details are available from the secretary.
